URB, inc. A+ ADA model home concept
Affordable Appealing Accessible
Understanding, ADA (Americans with Disability Act) defines a disability as a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities are important to appreciating Urb, Inc’s, A+ approach in our ADA model home concept.
URB, inc. believes it takes much more than wider doorways, support bars, and lower countertops to make a house that is ADA adapted into a home for a person with a disability.
Our A+ concept is more than a functional space for people with disabilities. The home will be a safe environment to help live one’s life to the fullest, a very comfortable setting where the fondest memories will be made and most likely will be the homeowners largest asset that can increase in value because of its appeal to more than homebuyers with disabilities.
Wide Hallways and an Open Floor Plan!
If you or a loved one is handicapped and are searching for wheelchair accessible housing, your home search has just gotten easier. Finding fully handicapped wheelchair accessible environments for the disabled has always been a struggle. The house featured on this page provides accessible housing and barrier free architecture. Our goal is to provide affordable housing for physically disabled adults in an independent living environment.
This completely wheelchair accessible house for sale features a front facade with stone and shingle accent. No step entries are found at all exterior doors and are typically protected from the elements by porches or large roof overhangs. The property has wheelchair accessible sidewalks leading to all exterior doors. The garage has an extra bay for storage and one over-sized door to accommodate a full size van with a wheelchair lift. The interior of the house features wide hallways, doors and doorways, smooth transitions at floor surface changes, a front porch, and a possible dedicated therapy room or 2nd bedroom. We have 2 fully handicap accessible bathrooms that feature a roll-under sink with motion activated sink faucets, a roll-in shower. The kitchen has a two tiered peninsula with roll-under accessible workstation.
The second floor offers a possible 3rd bedroom option with in suite master bathroom. This 2nd floor level will not be handicapped ready or wheelchair accessible but can be used for extra storage or be built out for a live in full time caretaker if need be.
We’re building this complete wheelchair accessible home on a double sized Chicago lot that together measures approximately 50 ft. wide and 125 ft. deep.
